Peter-Pan was actually inspired by author J.M. Barrie's older brother, David, who tragically passed away in an accident at age 13. To Barrie's mother, David remained "the boy who never grew up," which became a central theme. This idea of eternal youth and innocence inspired the character we know today—a boy who can fly and lives in the magical world of Neverland, refusing to grow up. This backstory adds a bittersweet layer to Peter-Pan's carefree and adventurous spirit.
