Interestingly, Rohan’s open plains and rolling hills starkly contrast with Mordor's bleak, volcanic landscape, yet the two are closer than many realize. This proximity and the mountain barrier in between underscore the sharp divide between the free peoples of Middle-earth and Sauron’s dark realm, highlighting Rohan’s role as a last line of defense against the encroaching shadow from the east.
