However, during filming, George Lucas realized the blue blade didn’t show up well against Tatooine’s bright sky in the outdoor scenes. So, the lightsaber was changed to green, not only to stand out visually but also to signify Luke’s growth as a Jedi. This unique color change became iconic, and the green saber is now closely associated with Luke’s character in the Star Wars universe.
