Jack Skellington’s character design was actually based on Burton’s own unique art style, with his tall, thin frame and expressive features reflecting Burton's signature gothic aesthetic. Interestingly, Jack’s character model was created using 400 different heads to capture every possible facial expression during stop-motion animation. This incredible attention to detail is part of what makes Jack’s character so emotive, despite being a skeleton!
